Summary of Disaster:

 

The New York Times referred to this day as “A Day of Terror.” Planes that had been hijacked hit the two World Trade Centers in the borough of Manhattan. Many people’s lives were affected by these tragic events.

 

Reported Injuries, Deaths, and Rescue at the Site:

 

The total number of deaths from the World Trade Center is 2,801. The total injured in the WTC is 2,261. The number of firefighter deaths is 343. The number of police deaths is 75.  The number of people who died on American Airlines Flight 11 and 65 people died on United Airlines Flight 175.
