Summary of Disaster:
According to the The News Herald, “Hurricane Earl greeted residents with torrential rains, leaving in its wake flooded homes, submerged vehicles, and an overflowing Deer Point Reservoir.” At the height of the storm, 45 shelters were opened across the Florida panhandle housing over 1,800 people. The emergency manager noted in the research interview that the storm impacted the county with less than $1 million in property damage. He stated, “Most of the impact occurred to the West of us in Opaloosa and Oscambia Counties.”
Reported Injuries, Deaths, and Rescue at the Site:The emergency manager was not aware of any injuries, deaths, or rescues as a result of the disaster in Bay County.
