Summary of Disaster:

 

According to the emergency manager, “Hurricane Lili caused trees and limbs to fall down which caused power outages.  Hurricane Lili was expected to be a Category 4 hurricane on the 5-point scale, but weakened to a Category 2. Hurricane Lili had wind gusts up to 57 miles an hour. The hurricane ended up being not as severe as many people had predicted, but still caused damage throughout St. James Parish.”

 

Reported Injuries, Deaths, and Rescue at the Site:

 

The emergency manager was not aware of any injuries, deaths, or rescues as a result of the disaster in St. James Parish. He stated, “We opened two shelters and had approximately 350 people per shelter.”
